Creative Writing

Creative Writing Resource for Budding Authors

I think the key is to simply get your work to as many people as possible. This may sound obvious but there are a lot of unused methods out there. The main one is to probably get yourself a site. If you can't afford to have a site designed and built for yourself you can simply create a free blog or use Google page creator (although you will need a Gmail account to do this). These are both free site creation alternatives which require little or no knowledge of the internet to create. Once you have your site it's important to discuss your work. If you want to jump up the Google search results it's important to have some keywords that people will be searching for within your descriptions. Google mainly works from linking. Basically, the more links you have into your site from other credible sites the more Google thinks of you. Therefore it is also important to get links to your site everywhere. Find writing pages and groups on Myspace and write a post about your site and book with a link. Do the same on writing forums, writing blogs and add comments to posts about writing.

You can also create a store front on lulu and post links to your site from there as well. Basically, leave no stone unturned. You need as many hits to your site as possible in order to generate a buzz around your work.

I thoroughly agree that all writers/authors should have a website of some sort. I actually wrote an article about the need of a website for writers. LOL.

I currently have a website http://www.christiesilvers.com
A blog http://christiesilvers.blogspot.com
A MySpace page http://www.myspace.com/christiesilvers
A MySpace page for my book http://www.mysace.com/amidnightinfatuation
and a Yuwie page http://www.yuwie.com/christiesilvers

I have many other pages too....like my Associated Content articles, my EZine Articles and my YouTube video page. If you search my name on Google you will get about 4 pages of results before you'll find one result that is NOT me. LOL! BUT, keep in mind that I've been doing this for over a year now and I would be highly disappointed if I didn't have these kinds of search results.

It takes a lot of time and energy to build yourself up on the internet and, in case my ramblings threw you, I fully agree that all writers should have at least one website of some sort. :-)
