Creative Writing Resource for Budding Authors

I recently found an interesting post on the use of the comma, colon and semi-colon. This is an area I actually struggle with quite a lot and sometimes find commas all over the place that I have to remove on proof reading.

The article is taken from The Book Shed - an article called 'Dot Dot Dash'. http://www.bookshed.eu/toolbox/commas.php

Thanks a lot to the guys at The Book Shed for this useful article.

True true. Just don't go calling any teddy bears 'Green Pepper'. Just heard the news, looks like that woman got away without any lashes. Man, the world's gone crazy. I'm big against racism but some things are taken too far.

Tell me about it. She could have got a flogging. 40 lashes. How mental is that!

When I lived in the Isle of Man they used to have birching there. If you commited a crime you would be whacked with a birch cane in public as punishment (and humiliation). Not sure if they officially stopped that or if it just kind of died down.

Mind you, there's only so many times you can get lashed for what the folk over there do to sheep. Eventually they start to enjoy it

Lol could be worse, you could've gone to school in the UK in the 90's and been forced to learn joined-up handwriting... mine has never recovered, it's become generally known as 'the scrawl'

It's an interesting read. I frequently mis-use commas in a short story I'm writing. Thank the good lord for spell and grammer checker
