Love them or hate them? Do they have a place in your novel? How do you intend to make them new and exciting or have they still got game?

I wonder if those books that you can buy from the top shelf are easier to write? You just need a thesaurus to look up other versions of 'turgid',

in my writing i dont like using any sorta 'non-human' stereotypes, like pointy-eared elves and wizards with big beards, it kinda just annoys me. i much prefer to keep it human, i think its more interesting to go into our own species motivations and psyches. certain sterotypes can be a good starting point, so long as you take the character further so their not one dimensional, for example, i have a character who is a commoner in love with a nobles daughter, and when they get caight 'at it' he is castrated and banished, whilst she is disowned by her family and imprisoned, in keeping with their strict religious laws. he eventually rescues her, but she thinks he dies doing so and ends up with someone else. when he finds out he kills them both then himself

Hi Martin, cheers for posting this. I'll try and have a read over the weekend. Do you fancy posting it in the CRIT section in the forum as well if that's ok? You're more likely to get feedback there I reckon, I've posted a few things tucked away in discussions and people miss them sometimes I think.

Have a good weekend.
