When I was at Salford - God, is it really 4 years ago now - I lived in Castle Irwell for the first year and then flat 8a at Brammall Court for the last 2 years. They were absolute dives. I heard Castle Irwell is closing down. Is that true?

I also heard the old student bar on the main campus burnt down. Me and a few guys from work were over in the new cafe type bar for lunch the other week. It was really nice food but you have to be suspicious about a burger and chips that arrives before you;ve even got your drink from the bar and sat down :)

Oooo, just remembered the Pav.... Happy drunken days :)

Haha I don't know about Irwell closing. I never lived there but I've heard its pretty bad. John Lester Court was fairly dire too, you can't get a moments peace for the sound of sirens from the police station round the corner, and I had one of those flatmates who leaves things in the fridge so long that they practically get up and walk to the bin themselves. I'm in Bramall this year, which so far is a definite improvement.

Oh and yes Lowry's bar buuurned!

Seems like a lots happened since I left. Bramall was pretty handy for me - it was literally 1 mins walk to lectures. Be better if there was some sort of social room though. Only having a kitchen in each flat gets a bit cramped by the end of the year.

Another prank for you - if you're trying them out in halls. The peas one is a good one to start with but then you need to put 'Wanted' posters around saying watch out for the 'esca-peas'. There were loads of others too. I heard of one where someone put a letter through everyones door saying they were replacing the mattresses so can everyone please leave them in piles in the entrance. Of course, there was no such replacement.

We also, once, lowered a fried egg through someones letterbox and put a poster on the wall opposite their front door saying 'the yolks on you!'

Mmmmm, how childish but fun times.

Hehe "esca-peas" that's a good one. The best we did last year was at halloween, we got some fake spider web from pound-land (complete with a plastic spider) and rigged it above the kitchen door so that when someone opened it the spider fell in their face.... you should've heard the cleaners scream!

Always good to wind the cleaners up a little. Our cleaner appeared to hate us but we knew, deep down, she'd miss us when we left.
