I think it depends on your audience. All the guidelines I;ve found on writing a young adult fantasy fiction novel is 60,000 - 70,000 words but I don't know if this is a strict rule. There are all sorts of factors like amount of shelf space a larger book would take up and if the publishers can afford to give up that much space to a new novelist (or so I'm led to believe).
Hey guys! It is cool that you turned up to say hello. I will be making my way to the CRIT section as soon as I can give it due care and attention. I must say you are brave to post online, my writing group is as far as I go! Yes I still live in Glasgow, went to uni here, went away and then came back! First of the big questions......
So, how long do you think a fantasy novel should be?
How do, I just joined your group as well. I, too, am working on a fantasy novel which, fingers crossed, is nearly complete. I'm just doing the final editing touches now before I start thinking about sending it off (or getting a more professional proof-read done). My prologue is also in the CRIT section if you fancy a nosy. You'll be getting pestered now we all know your a fantasy fiction fanatic :)
Hey, I just joined the fantasticals group. I'm working on a fantasy novel of sorts at the moment... I don't mean to bludgeon you into it or anything, but if you're into fantasy feel free to check out the prologue in the CRIT forum and let me know what you think.
By the way out of interest do you still live in Glasgow or are you at uni someplace? I'm Manchester based m'self. Laters,
Hi Tamsyn, welcome to CW. I hope you find some useful stuff here. Feel free to start any new discussions and/or groups if you want and get in touch if you have any requests for new features and stuff on the site.
Cheers, AB
